The Lord of the Rings is the world renown work of J.R.R. Tolkein. The books and movies both tell the story of Tthe Third Age of Middle-earth. Populated by Men (humans) and other humanoid races (Hobbits, Elves, Dwarves, and Orcs), as well as many other creatures, both real and fantastic, the story centers on the Ring of Power made by the Dark Lord Sauron in an earlier age. Its acquisition and control could lead to the destruction of Middle-Earth and brutal slavery for all who reside in it. From quiet beginnings in the Hobbit Shire the epic tale ranges across Middle-earth following the course of the War of the Ring through the eyes of its memorable characters.
