Zombies Are Love? PDF Print E-mail

I love horror movies. Whether I'm feeling cold, ghostly shivers down my spine as I watch stories that swirl with paranormal suspense, or burrowing in the sofa cushions as my heart beats faster with the approach of a creature from another world, I simply cannot get enough of horror. I revel in the starts and scares of a well told tale, and I laugh hard enough to make my sides ache with camp.

But of them all, my truest love is the zombie movie. There is just something in the way the shuffle closer to you, muscle and organs exposed, blood and ichor dripping in their wake that simply delights me. The mindless hunger for living flesh is so primal and basic, it speaks to me of our innate, deep-seated fear of death.

And it appears that I am not alone in my appreciation of the zombie. A quick google search reveals a myriad of sites covering a large range of topics. Some treat the zombie as a philosophical puzzle, others trace the history of the phenomenon, and still others examine the development of zombies in film. We now even have games based on zombies and our own ability to survive the "zombie apocolypse". But my favorite, by far, is the site dedicated to helping you prepare to survive a zombie attack! Hey! It could happen!

My friend Amanda and fellow horror movie fan sums it up best: "Zombies are love!" Now, I know many of you are thinking I'm off my rocker. How could zombies, walking dead that try to eat the living, possibly be love? To me, the answer is simple. No matter how you personally feel about your hair, or your shirt being too tight, or your butt being too big, a zombie will always want you! So I say bring on the virus, the meteor from space, funky radiation, and close the gates to hell! Because while it is impossible to think I could be eaten by David Tennant, 'Christian Slater, or Eric Etebari since they are all living, I can harbor the hope that the zombie that will come for me will be Cary Grant.
